COMA GIRL - Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros
Much missed? Over to Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. If it's been easy for obituary writers to assess his impact as a thoughtful and inspirational sort of bloke, it might take a while to figure out the full extent of what Joe was after musically in his post-Clash years. 'Coma Girl' gives a pretty decent idea. A tale of freewheeling festival attendance, it's undoubtedly adult rock, but still tinged with unpredictability and proof that Joe's creative fire was burning strongly when it was prematurely snuffed out.
