January 1992 Vox Magazine "Joe & The Family Pogues" - An excellent article on Joe's tour in France with the Pogues while filling in for Shane McGowan. This article was kindly contributed to Strummer News by Lisa Marie.
February 1990 Downbeat Magazine "'Earthquake Weather' - Review" - A review of "Earthquake Weather" which highlights the genius of Joe's vocals and Zander Schloss' guitar playing.
November 16, 1989 Rolling Stone "Joe Strummer" - A small side-bar article on Joe's film work and a short bit about Joe's and Mick's daughters being friends. Joe says "They're a terrible duo."
October 7, 1989 Sounds "Thirty Something on the Richter Scale" - Joe talks about the release of "Earthquake Weather", the US, and about "London Calling" being voted the number one album of the 1980's.
September 30, 1989 Melody Maker "Richter Scales" - Joe speaks about the recording of "Earthquake Weather", and why he couldn't wait for the end of the 1980's.

October 26, 1988 Ciao 2001 Italian Magazine "Psyco Clash" - This is a great article with some excellent pics in Italian. It includes a picture of Joe with the members of the Latino Rockabilly War.
July 14, 1988 Rolling Stone "Strummer set to Rock Against the Rich" - A short article on Joe's "Rock Against the Rich" tour with his band, the Latino Rockabilly War.
July 2, 1988 Melody Maker "Joe Strummer Live at The Fridge in Brixton" - A good gig review and article from a show in Brixton. Includes an interesting mix of songs that Joe was playing at the time like "Love of the Common People", The Pogues' "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" and various Clash tunes.
July, 1988 Cut Magazine "The Return of Smokin' Joe" - This is a good one page article with Joe where he discusses his work on the two soundtracks, 'Walker' and 'Permanent Record' and his participation in the 'Rock Against the Rich' tour.
June 18, 1988 NME "Frame & Strummer: The Men Behind the Wire" - This is a cover article on Joe and Roddy Frame from Aztec Camera playing the Amnesty International show. I've only included Joe's interview here, though the interviewer seems to revel in giving him a hard time about his beliefs.
June 7, 1988 Exposure "Joe Strummer Sounds Off as Brit Hits the Fan" - An interesting one page article where Joe talks about America, the Grammys and why the Clash never did a Dr. Pepper commercial.
June 1988 International Musician & Recording World "Clashback" - An excellent 3 page article on Joe's work on the 'Walker' and 'Permanent Record' soundtracks.
April 2, 1988 Sounds "Be Bop A Lula Here's Joe Strummer" - In this excellent article Joe talks about everything from his work on the two soundtracks, to his acting career, to his time playing for the Pogues and "The Bop Message".
March 12, 1988 Melody Maker "Tales From the Immortals" - Joe discusses the "Walker" soundtrack and movie and the infamous "Bop Message".
March 1988 Musician "The Exile of Joe Strummer" - A very good interview with Joe Strummer where he discusses the break up of The Clash, his film career and his favorite amplifier. I think this article is very representative of this period of Joe life musically and otherwise.
January 31, 1988 Los Angeles Times "Strummer on Man, God, Law and The Clash" - An interview with Joe where he talks about Clash 2 and his work with the Pogues as well as the life changing event of having children.
